Ah. This xdg stuff seems to have appeared in Linux a while back while I wasn't looking, and I have to wonder when and why. :-) In my /etc/xdg/autostart directory I see

all of which (except probably the first and last one) seem to pertain to Gnome. I don't use the Gnome desktop, except for its configuring tools, so I wonder if removing these will cause the Gnomish applications that I do use to stop working?
Open one and look. /etc/xdg/autostart/org.gnome.SettingsDaemon.A11yKeyboard.desktop: [Desktop Entry] Type=Application Name=GNOME Settings Daemon's a11y-keyboard plugin Exec=/usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon-3.0/gsd-a11y-keyboard OnlyShowIn=GNOME; <=================== NoDisplay=true X-GNOME-Autostart-Phase=Initialization X-GNOME-Autostart-Notify=true X-GNOME-AutoRestart=true They will not have effect on others. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E.
