Hi Felix, thanks for the hint, sadly both did not help, so I had to dig a little deeper. There was an option missing in /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager DISPLAYMANAGER_SHUTDOWN=auto After setting this parameter and a re-login, it works like charm. I have installed KDE3 on openSUSE 15.5 and have noticed that a shutdown is prompting for the Root password. Do you have any idea how i could allow my regular user account to shutdown and reboot the system without password?
/opt/kde3/share/config/kdm/kdmrc has a configuration option for who is allowed to shutdown and reboot.
Might it also be possible by including your regular user in the wheel group?
