Just wondering if anyone knows the status of how KDE3 works in 11.3. I'm planning to install it on a machine shortly.
I have it working on a couple text boxes where 11.3 amounts to conversion from 11.3's Factory.
I'm still running 11.0, and had noticed that 11.0-11.2 used many KDE4 libs because of using both DEs. Has this been removed so that we have a fully qt3/KDE3 experience like it was in 10.3 and earlier?
Are you sure 11.3 is the best choice of "upgrade"? Soon as 11.0 support expired I "upgraded" my 24/7 box to 11.2/KDE3 (other than the newer versions of K3B & Amarok). AFAICT, nothing improved, while CPU usage jumped, no sound from system speaker, & absent ability to write with K3B to used RW DVDs are the only degradations I've noticed. OTOH, 11.3 uses KMS, which is an infant technology with alpha/beta downstream effects on Xorg. Depending on your hardware, it may pay to skip 11.3. Best to check your video hardware against bug reports and Factory mailing list threads before deciding on your "upgrade" path. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
