I use the KDE4 program synaptiks under KDE3 to switch off the touchpad, but I need to keep on my computer its very old version (0.2.0), because the newer versions do not contain any executable file in /usr/bin. I am afraid, sooner or later this old version will finally will not work at all (as it happened with ksynaptics).
