Recently upgraded 12.2->12.3->13.1, worked well so far, but while kdebase3-kdm is installed the system comes up with kdm from kde4.
etc/sysconfig/displaymanager states "kdm"
While that used to work, it was changed to need DISPLAYMANAGER="kdm3" somewhere along the way from 12.2 to 13.1.
and "which kdm" says: /opt/kde3/bin/kdm
but ps auxf lists:
root 1140 0.0 0.0 24612 828 ? Ss 17:51 0:00 /usr/bin/kdm
No kdm3 binary is in $PATH.
When I uninstall the kdm package from kde4 suse comes up with xdm.
That's the always installed fallback for the cases when nothing else is installed or a required config file is broken.
Pointers appreciated.
The comments within /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager could definitely use a tuneup. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
