Might prove easier to have YaST2 remove the Plasma pattern. If you want a chance to know what package(s) cause the trouble, try removing one or a few bits of plasma5* and libKF5* at a time and trying KDE3 after each removal. Then if you succeed and want to add Plasma back, try setting solver.onlyRequires = true in /etc/zypp/zypp.conf to setup a lighter weight (Plasma) installation.
Maybe some "optional" part of KDE3 isn't truly optional. This is a list from this 42.1 installation (which was initially a minimal X installation, followed by enabling onlyRequires, then adding KDE3; it has no libKF5* installed): # rpm -qa | sort | egrep '3.5.10|kde3|kate|qt' kde3-cpuinfo-0.5.2-5.3.x86_64 kde3-digikam-0.9.6-46.3.x86_64 kde3-digikam-lang-0.9.6-46.3.noarch kde3-gtk-qt-engine-0.8svn20071009-64.1.x86_64 kde3-gwenview-1.4.2-149.3.x86_64 kde3-gwenview-lang-1.4.2-149.3.noarch kde3-k3b-1.0.5-67.3.x86_64 kde3-k3b-lang-1.0.5-67.3.noarch kde3-kio_iso-1.90.0-17.3.x86_64 kde3-kipi-plugins-0.1.6-35.4.x86_64 kde3-kipi-plugins-lang-0.1.6-35.4.noarch kde3-koffice-1.6.3-311.3.x86_64 kde3-koffice-database-1.6.3-311.3.x86_64 kde3-koffice-spreadsheet-1.6.3-311.3.x86_64 kde3-oxygen-icon-theme-4.0-1.1.noarch kdeaddons3-kicker-3.5.10-38.2.x86_64 kdeaddons3-konqueror-3.5.10-38.2.x86_64 kdeaddons3-sound-3.5.10-38.2.x86_64 kdeadmin3-3.5.10-54.3.x86_64 kdebase3-3.5.10.1-394.2.x86_64 kdebase3-apps-3.5.10.1-394.2.x86_64 kdebase3-kdm-3.5.10.1-394.2.x86_64 kdebase3-ksysguardd-3.5.10.1-394.2.x86_64 kdebase3-runtime-3.5.10.1-394.2.x86_64 kdebase3-session-3.5.10.1-394.2.x86_64 kdebase3-workspace-3.5.10.1-394.2.x86_64 kdebindings3-3.5.10-137.4.x86_64 kdegraphics3-3.5.10-153.1.x86_64 kdegraphics3-extra-3.5.10-153.1.x86_64 kdegraphics3-imaging-3.5.10-153.1.x86_64 kdegraphics3-pdf-3.5.10-153.1.x86_64 kdegraphics3-scan-3.5.10-153.1.x86_64 kdelibs3-3.5.10-285.1.x86_64 kdelibs3-arts-3.5.10-285.1.x86_64 kdelibs3-default-style-3.5.10-285.1.x86_64 kdemultimedia3-3.5.10.1-50.1.x86_64 kdemultimedia3-arts-3.5.10.1-50.1.x86_64 kdemultimedia3-mixer-3.5.10.1-50.1.x86_64 kdemultimedia3-sound-3.5.10.1-50.1.x86_64 kdemultimedia3-video-3.5.10.1-50.1.x86_64 kdenetwork3-3.5.10-162.3.x86_64 kdenetwork3-IRC-3.5.10-162.3.x86_64 kdeutils3-3.5.10-119.2.x86_64 kdeutils3-extra-3.5.10-119.2.x86_64 libdbus-1-qt3-0-0.8.1-175.1.x86_64 libkate1-0.4.1-23.1.x86_64 libkcal-3.5.10-279.1.x86_64 libkcal2-3.5.10-279.1.x86_64 libkmime2-3.5.10-279.1.x86_64 libktnef1-3.5.10-279.1.x86_64 liboggkate1-0.4.1-23.1.x86_64 libopencv-qt55_4-2.4.11-2.10.x86_64 libqt4-4.8.6-10.2.x86_64 libqt4-sql-4.8.6-10.2.x86_64 libqt4-x11-4.8.6-10.2.x86_64 libqt5-qtbase-platformtheme-gtk2-5.5.1-10.1.x86_64 libqt5-qtct-0.20-3.1.x86_64 libqt5-qtimageformats-5.5.1-3.1.x86_64 libyui-qt-graph7-2.44.5-1.3.x86_64 libyui-qt-pkg7-2.45.5-1.2.x86_64 libyui-qt7-2.46.21-1.1.x86_64 misc-console-font-3.5.10.1-393.1.x86_64 qt3-3.3.8c-281.1.x86_64 vlc-qt-2.2.4-30.2.x86_64 yast2-control-center-qt3-2.17.3-10.1.x86_64 yast2-qt-branding-openSUSE-42.1-6.2.noarch
Thanks, Felix. I'll try deleting one by one. I saw a number of probable plasma5 and some KDE4 processes running, so I'll probably start from finding out where they came from and deleting the package. -- Mark Goldstein -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+owner@opensuse.org
