All,
This is strange. In konqueror --profile file-managment in the detailed view, I have the shell-script Embedding (tab) set to:
Left Click Action [x] Show file in embedded viewer
Services Preference Order Embedded Advanced Text Editor (katepart)
Which means the default action for the shell-script should be to show the script in the Advanced Text Editor preview. Just the same as using the context menu to "Preview In -> Embedded Advanced Text Editor"
However, the Left Click Action does nothing. I think this is relatively recent. The file association/mime-type action is set that way because I specifically set it, and in the past confirmed the wanted behavior of being able to view the shell scripts by simply clicking on them.
Any idea what changed?
More info, With the settings shown as above, nothing would happen when I left-clicked a script (at least nothing visible). To test, I opened the file properties for a script, chose the wrench (file association properties) and changed: [ ] Show file in embedded viewer [x] Show file in separate viewer with kwrite configured under the General tab as the first in the "Application Preference Order". Now left clicking a file opens the script in kwrite as it is supposed to. So like any inquisitive tinkerer, I then set: [x] Show file in embedded viewer [ ] Show file in separate viewer and repeated the left-click on a shell script. It still opens in kwrite -- something is messed up on mime-type handling. Can anyone else confirm this behavior? -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.
