Hi, I just made my dial-in server (SuSE 7.0) work. When I connect with my Win98 client, i reseive the following: IP: 192.168.100.213 (ok) net: 255.255.255.0 (ok) Gateway: 192.168.100.213 (???) Why is the client the standard gateway? Shouldn't it be the linux server? my network is: ippp0: my IP: 192.168.100.107 dynIP gateway: 192.168.100.107 PtP: 192.168.100.213 Roland

coz it works kinda transit network, i.e. you have IPs on both ends of the ppp connection. since the windoze box only has the ppp-adapter, the ip of the ppp-adapter is the standard gateway on the windoze box. if the linux box was the standard gateway on the windoze, it would not know, how to route packets. greetz!

You're logging in on the device that you default gateway points to (ippp0). Your Linux Systems "thinks" that you're the ISP. remedy: create a second device ippp1 and log in on it, that way you will be routed out through ippp0 (gateway) onto the internet. Greetings Coney
