Hallo, bitte nicht gleich boese sein. Ich weiss, das diese Frage vielleicht nicht hier reinpasst. Hab aber keine ander Mailing-Liste gefunden, da sich scheinbar einige in diesem Thema auskennen. Ich hatte vor einigen Tagen Schwierigkeiten mit einem staendigen unerwueschten ISDN-Verbindungsaufbau. In vielen Tips die ich bekommen habe wurde mir empfohlen einen CACHE-ONLY NAMESERVER einzurichten. Erst wusste ich nicht das es sowas ueberhaupt gibt, aber als ich mich in das Thema eingelesen habe konnte ich mich sofort dafür begeistern. Es soll relativ einfach sein, verhindert unnoetige Verbindungen nach aussen und steigert die Performance. Also hab auf SUSE 6.3 mein bind8 installiert und habe einen Blick in /etc/named.conf geworfen und hatte denn Eindruck das SUSE /etc/named.conf schon als CACHE-ONLY NAMESERVER vorkonfiguriert hat. Kann jemand meinen Eindruck bestaetigen ? Oder muss ich eventuell nur ein paar fuer meine Umgebung spezifische Aenderung vornehmen ? Ich wuerde naehmlich gerne sowenig wie moeglich an den vorkonfigurierten Dinger vornehmen. Man weiss ja nie, das Ganze koennte vielleicht einen vernuenftigen Grund haben. yose

Hallo, deinen Eindruck kann ich bestaetigen, Suse hat einen BIND8 named vorkonfiguriert, du musst nur noch in rc.config start named auf yes setzen und den Name Service Caching Daemon (NSCD) auf no setzen.
