Kernel panic on install [IA64 Suse 7.2]
I am trying to install suse-ia64-7.2 on one of the ia64 SMP boxes (Lions). During starting of the installation it is "panic"ing. I was wondering if there are any known issues with installation. Here are the details of the machine. C0 4-way Intel SDV SMP box BIOS: 83B Mem: 8 Gb Disk: 75 Gb We tried the install on BIOS 76B, 79B and 83B - no luck! The install seems to go fine on BigSur (Workstations) with C0 processors and using the same CD's. Regards, Vivek

Could you please provide some more details, e.g. the exact text of the Kernel Panic? Without some more info it is very difficult to give you a hand here. Thanks! Looks like there was a problem with installation on 800 MHz C0 chip. I used up the machine for another install and tried a new install on a 733 MHz C0 chip which went through fine. If I get chance to install on a 800 MHz machine again, I will send the panic message out! Thanks for help. Regards, Vivek Andreas Schwab wrote:
