Hello,
Booting my Lion Qual with SuSE 7.2a RC1 sporadically hangs at scsi(0): verifying chip ...
After that I only can do a powercycle or reset the machine. I know this problem has been discussed in [linux-ia64] with kernel 2.4.5 but with no clear result.

I have seen this too from time to time, but I haven't been able to reproduce it. IMHO this may be some race condition in the qla1280 driver. I'd suggest to try again on the linux-ia64 list.
Andreas.
