I have heard that the JDK from IBM has issues with SMP, anyone know about this and the current status? Regards, Jon

There is a known issue with thread implementation of glibc before version
2.2.3. This makes most (all?) java programs break on these pre 2.2.3 systems.
There are no updated packages for the existing distributions, as of yet due
to header incompatibilities between the versions as far as I know. If you
need that I could create updated packages, which _might_ eventually break
some sources.
This issue is already fixed for upcoming releases.

Stefan;
I think we are OK for UP as a Demo, but from what you said here "upcoming
releases" is that the SLES IA64 or the JDK itself? I am of course interested
in that the SMP would work on release time of the SuSE SLES.

Jon

Upcoming release of SuSE Linux/SLES. The JDK does fine, it is just not really
in sync with the current threads implementation.
