I have tried to install SLES 9 on an intel IA-64 server. When yast starts up the whole installation freezes. This happens no matter what options I pass to the kernel. Here is the hardware description: http://developer.intel.com/design/servers/platforms/sr870bh2/index.htm Any ideas or is there another list tailored to IA64? I should say it was already suggested that I use SP3 CDs for the installation as opposed to the original. Thanks, LDB

Boot from the SP3 CD1, and try enabling kdb and send the console output to the serial console, e.g. add the following in the bootia64 options menu: console=<yourserialconsole> kdb=on This should drop you into kdb on an MCA or kernel oops. Note only SP3 has kdb enabled in the default kernel (the one on the installer CDs). Greg
