Folks, I have synced Leap 15.3, Leap 15.4 and Tumbleweed on mirror.opensuse.mu. However, on mirrors.o.o I see that it only shows “TW ISO”. Is there something I have missed? Also, I am trying to understand the openSUSE mirrors better. Am I correct to understand that when requests are sent to download.o.o it automatically picks up the best suited mirror based on the incoming IP address? Or am I thinking incorrectly here? Regards, Ish Sookun

Hi Ish, no, you are right, that is the basic idea. There can be some debate about how "best" is defined though. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (18.5°C) Member, openSUSE Heroes

Thanks for confirming. Then, is my second assumption still correct, if mirrors.o.o does not list a mirror as serving Leap 15.3 repo & Update for example, then the requests will not be sent to that mirror? Regards, Ish Sookun

No, it's not quite so strict. The mirrors.o.o listing is mostly for human consumption, and the status shown depends on certain files being found on a mirror. For instance, "if file <A> is available, mirror has Leap 15.3 update". However, mirrorbrain knows about all the files on a mirror, and will still direct requests if the right files are available, no matter what the mirrors.o.o page says. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (17.6°C) Member, openSUSE Heroes
