[heroes] support for package installation in salt
Hello,
I added support for package installation in salt. Right now I added
aaa_base-extras in pillar/common.sls that will be installed in all machines.
Assuming we have a proper role grain in a machine set up, we can add packages
under pillar/role/$role.sls as well to get it installed on a specific role as
well. There is support also for installing packages from a specific repository
via the fromrepo attribute, eg
zypper:
packages:
nrpe:
fromrepo: openSUSE:infrastructure
Let me know if you need further info or if you have further ideas

On a related note, I added some time ago hardcoded values for /etc/zypp/zypp.conf, which I did today dynamic (based on pillars), and also for /etc/zypp/zypper.conf. There is only the "solver.onlyRequires = true" option set for now though. Theo

Great work, thanks a lot!

I like to suggest to disable deltarpm usage for updates: all our machines have a good "Internet" connection, so the additional time and CPU usage to reconstruct a RPM is not needed from my point of view. Would you be interested to suggest it via a merge request? :)

First try, first problem: "504 Gateway Time-out The server didn't respond in time. " => looks like using the WebUI is not a good thing for "big" files like common.sls ;-) Used SSH now for creating https://gitlab.opensuse.org/infra/salt/merge_requests/1 Have a lot of fun!
