Greetings guys! My name is Nikos and I am currently an undergraduate student in Computer Science. I have been contributing to the project for almost 2 years now but not in the infrastructure. I really don't know which task is suitable for me but i really want to help out and learn as much as i can at the same time. I code in python and am mostly focused on the security field but i can take up any task as as long as i have a bit of guidance. You know what they say: start form the bottom :) Cheers Nikos Mantas -- Nick Mantas -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: heroes+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: heroes+owner@opensuse.org

I'm happy to hear you want to help :-) One thing you could do is looking for a replacement (or upgrade/fix) for connect.opensuse.org [1]. This is probably a bigger task, so I completely understand if you don't want to start with this ;-) (If you really want to do this, please coordinate with Miska to avoid duplicate work.) Besides that, I'm afraid we don't have a list of "junior jobs" you could do to get started. To make things more interesting, there are some things going on behind the scenes which are blocking or at least delaying some of our tasks. To give you an impression of some of our "usual" tasks, you might want to look at the list of open tickets at https://progress.opensuse.org/projects/opensuse-admin/issues (Note that not all tickets are public.) Also, sorry that your mail was unanswered so long. I had hoped someone would come up with a nice task list where you could pick something, but as indicated above, AFAIK we don't have such a list yet, which probably explains the silence ;-) One thing I can really recommend is to join our IRC meetings which are usually at the first Sunday of a month at 19:00 CET / 18:00 UTC. Regards, Christian Boltz <shameless plug> PS: If you are bored and want to do some python coding - I'm always happy about patches for the AppArmor tools ;-) (but this shouldn't stop you from doing from openSUSE admin tasks once we find something suitable for you </shameless plug> [1] If you want to look at the code: https://github.com/openSUSE/connect --

Hello, sorry for the late reply. As Christian said we don't have a concrete junior jobs list unfortunately. Feel free to ping me on IRC so I can give you a guided tour and assign you tasks. -- Theo Chatzimichos <tampakrap@opensuse.org> <tchatzimichos@suse.com> System Administrator SUSE Operations and Services Team
