[heroes] FreeIPA and OpenSuse
I thought I saw somewhere that freeipa was being used to handle dns for opensuse, but I am not finding it in the repos. Is this a one-off bit, or old info? I would like to get freeipa working on opensuse since it seems to be the best choice to centrally manage users and policy in a linux enviroment. You are right, we really use FreeIPA ("hidden" inside our VPN) for DNS and some other things. I'm surprised that the package isn't in the openSUSE:infrastructure repo, but looking at the osc search results and given who did our FreeIPA setup, I'd guess home:darix:branches:network is the best match. To make things even more interesting, the package is in 'broken link' state because it was deleted it from the "network" repo. The old binaries still exist, but I'm not sure if I should recommend to use an old version. There's also home:darix:playground:freeipa which would have a newer version if the build wouldn't fail. The previous paragraphs are also a bugreport for our infrastructure repo. Thanks for accidently reporting this issue ;-) There is also https://en.opensuse.org/Portal:FreeIPA which says FreeIPA was in Tumbleweed for a while, but got dropped due to lack of maintenance. The page also has some (possibly outdated) documentation. Note that I don't know too much about FreeIPA and the packaging around it. The above is mostly reverse engeneered information ;-) based on osc se etc. Regards, Christian Boltz -- Wo steht der Server eigentlich? Kann den die Putzfrau treten? Hello Alex, we do use freeipa for dns (also for ldap for admin-only services), but we don't use it on openSUSE, but on Fedora. It is not packaged for openSUSE, and doing so is a big task. So if you or anyone else is interested in taking this over, feel free to do so and to contact us, we'd be happy to help Theo
