[heroes] Need RFC on some suspicious activity
Hi, You know perhaps that Stefan and I volunteered to curtail spam on the <https://connect.opensuse.org> platform. I'm seeing a suspicious activity from one user and need advice. I don't know whom to ask, but I do not want to ask on main mail list. A "she" user registered yesterday. I did not notice anything definitely suspicious. But today she seems to be "making friends" with everybody, pages and pages of that. I don't know what to make of it. <https://connect.opensuse.org/pg/friends/rose25/> 170 pages of friends. Should I ban and or delete her? She is also "friend of" 10 users. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.0 x86_64 at Telcontar)

I see that "rose25" was already banned, but I'll answer nevertheless ;-) What you've seen clearly looks like spam(mer) behaviour, therefore the ban is correct.
She is also "friend of" 10 users.
I'm quite sure lots of people just blindly "friend back" when getting a friendship request - actually I'm surprised that only 10 of our users out of the 1700 "friends" did this ;-) Regards, Christian Boltz -- Das sind die größten Windows-Mythen: * Windows 8 ist ein einziger Alptraum. I did that myself, not knowing what to do, just in case she does something worse. Otherwise, I can unban just as easily. A delete can not be undone.

Thanks for the confirmation.

Or worse, "the bad guys" prepared in advance some subscriptions to make friends and look normal. Now I think I'll wait a week and then delete her, in order to delete the friendly associations. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.0 x86_64 at Telcontar)

A new user rose2525 has appeared, and I don't see any activity. However, at least 3 other users (neocurve, giuliodestasio98, and Stefan Seyfried) have declared friendship to this user. This I find surprising and suspicious. But Stefan is a known user and member, he is the other spam catcher! So this can not be (I put him on CC). His profile does not list anybody as friend. This is very strange. But the activity log says he made friends with rose2525 16 hours ago. On the other hand, rose2525 "friends of" lists only two people, not Stefan. Really, the connect platform has to be removed. We can not have a platform alive that is the target of spammers and (illegal?) sex activities. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R.
