Hello, since nobody answered yet... Am Montag, 2. Dezember 2019, 18:52:27 CET schrieb Per Jessen:
The only thing I've been pursuing is getting a dump of the forums database. I think Gerald must have pushed some buttons - only just this afternoon I have been told a dump is available, just waiting for a secure way to transfer it. Unlike the tarball with the website which was sent by email :-)
Did this tarball also include files the users uploaded (screenshots, cat photos, avatars, ...)? (Just asking - I don't know if these uploads are stored as files or as binary blob in the database.)
I don't know how we can best facilitate a secure transfer? rsync to one of my own machines or to somewhere at o.o ?
We probably don't have a perfect solution, but good workarounds ;-) I'd say the easiest way is if the admin in provo uploads it on a https server with a .htaccess / .htpasswd, or with an unguessable URL which basically is the password.
I'll get something set up asap, forums2.some.where, for the forums admin guys to have a look at and see if they are happy. Then I'll get a VM and get it running at o.o. I have already advised the MF-IT guys that I'll need a 2nd dump when I am ready to migrate.

That release went far too smooth after we had everything together ;-) That on it's own should have set off the alarm bells :-) [> Andreas Jaeger and David Bolt in opensuse-factory]
