The gateway needs to be enabled in "port.sys" for every port allowed. (gateway to this port). Talks to sysop can be enabled/disabled from "cron.sys". I think the default cron.sys switches talks off. Also check this file for "gate" entry's, you can swich-off the gateway on certain hours of the day in this file, maybe that's your problem when it is enabled in port.sys. Regards, Cees Tool - PA3AES
Ok thanks but what do i need to put in these files where and how do i make the gateway and talk be on all the time! well at least the gateway thing on all time the talk for now i can do with or without but need to get the gateway thing going! thanks again! BOB On Mon, 17 Dec 2001, Cees Tool wrote:

Try to get the doc files from www.f6fbb.org or a mirror site. The html helpfile can give you all the answers and can be easy installed locally. All the newer options are in the CHANGES file in the fbb source package. Anyway, in port.sys be sure you have a "W" added in the mode part of a line. This enables gateway "To" this port. Then check the file cron.sys, and look what is inside. You could delete everything which is in there. If there is a "talk no" change it to talk yes and be sure that there are no lines "gate xx NO" (xx = portnumber) when you don't want them there. Regards, Cees - PA3AES
Ok i have look at all docs doesnt tell me anything that i could so as i see it! i have tuw in the port sys and now in the cron file i only have talk YES yapp 1 yes yapp 2 yes GATE 1 yes will see if that works! will let you know! BOB On Mon, 17 Dec 2001, Cees Tool wrote:

In your other mail you wrote that hou have 'gate 1 yes' ,this means gateway allowed to port 1. Do you have more ports than just port 1 ??? I have seen your comments in the xfbb mailing list, so better continue there. Ted made an interesting remark there about telnet and gatewaying. Regards, Cees - PA3AES
