Hi. Thanks to all who replied to my mail to this list.... First query.... Is it ok to boot my present kernel with lilo then make another bzImage which I cp to / then make a bzdisk to boot the bzImage with...If so will that pick up the presently installed modules or will I have to make modules make modules_install again ?? Second query.. I sold off my tnc's somew time ago as the amount of packet activity in my area is very low...I have a s/blaster value sound card so am wondering if I can get back onto packet using this ?? -- Regards Ted Wager SuSE Linux7.3 g3tpi.ampr.org

Sort of! Copy the new image as something like vmlinuz.new, add the appropraite lilo.conf entry (copy the "normal" one and change the name of the target and the entry) and don't forget to run "lilo" before you reboot. Select the "new" entry to try out your image. If it doesn't work you can drop back to the default and try again.

Yes, it is possible. The appropriate rpm is on the distribution disks. I have used a sound card (some time back, now) but it was a little picky! Linux now runs Baycom TNCs quite well if your processor is up to it. You might like to try that as a cheap alternative if you can't get the sound card to work. -- 73 de Derek M0LSN
