Jules, I think it is of interest for more people so I answer to the list. On Sun, Nov 05, Jules Duiker wrote:

Well, that is generally a problem of many software packages available for ham purposes. Most of them are programmed to be installed manually by the user into the /usr/local/ directories. Most of them provide an installation script or something similar for this. But this is not the way one can deal with when using rpm archives. As a package maintainer I cannot install the package with customized configuration files. This is something that has to happen afterwards, e.g. with an alternative configuration script or something else. Some parts of the functionality of Jean-Paul's INSTALL.SH are covered by the rpm archive, especially creating the needed directories. So we cannot call the script while runtime because it would fail to create directories. We are thinking about a global solution for many of the ham packages, providing YaST2 modules for configuration. But due to missing manpower this is nothing we can do right now, sorry! Jean-Paul, Vojtech, do you have ideas how to handle this problem? Jules,
I think it is of interest for more people so I answer to the list.

The last 7.02 version should do the needed work. I think it is not rpm'ed. install.sh is not neede das the creation of the tree and the copy of the files is already done by the rpm. "fbb" script which run the software actually checks for the configuration and creates the needed configuration files the first time the software is launched.

Sure, this is the discussion we had on this list some weeks ago.

Only last 7.02 version is needed. It should fit with the needs. rpm has to be created. I can do it if I have all the needed inputs.

Not only manpower, but also ideas 8-)
Jean-Paul, Vojtech, do you have ideas how to handle this problem?
