[opensuse-go] Go ending support for binary-only go (language) packages
I wanted to mention this accepted Go proposal here, to understand if anything in the openSUSE/SUSE sphere currently ships binary-only Go packages to be imported by other Go code (not to be confused with operating system packaging of go binaries): go#28152 cmd/go: drop support for binary-only packages https://github.com/golang/go/issues/28152 Recently accepted by upstream, slated for go1.13 (ETA Aug 2019). I don't think we use this anymore -- while I think golang-packaging does still support it one of the big things we did with the rewrites was have source-tree installs. We used to have some projects like md2man that needed it because they were written before vendoring (even before the community came up with hacks for vendoring, long before Go supported it), but that shouldn't be needed anymore. -- Aleksa Sarai Senior Software Engineer (Containers) SUSE Linux GmbH https://www.cyphar.com/
