[opensuse-gnome] Enable G:F for 11.0 (or Factory - 1)
Hello, At the moment, we do all this work to get the latest GNOME into GNOME:Factory. At the same time, we don't have a "Latest GNOME" for poeple that run the currently released version of openSUSE. I'd like to think that one way of serving our users would be to simply enable it to build for Factory - 1 version (11.0 as of today) as well. This would require a couple of people that watch out for build failures due to version dependencies that exists in Factory, but not in the released product, and add/link them to G:F, but make sure they are disabled for Factory. Packages such as hal and d-bus springs to mind. Would this be something that we could do? I'd be interested in helping out to make sure stuff builds... I'm with you Rodrigo. I'd like to see 11.0 enabled for Factory. We would also need a discussion how to handle this in the future; What will happen once 11.1 is released. Will we start building GNOME 2.26 for both 11.1 and 11.0 in Factory as well? To which repo should we move GNOME 2.24 for 11.0 users once 11.1 is released? We can start by enabling builds for 11.0, but disabling publishing for 11.0. That way we can get everything in a reasonably consistent state before unleashing the packages.

Maybe it would make sense to use a different repository, with most packages just linked to those in G:F, but with some additional patches (to make things build) and/or with some extra deps. But I'd rather avoid this; better to put just the deps in a different repo.

A few people used it, but I don't think they were very happy with the results, because nobody gave it the attention it needed to be viable. If we can get a commitment from somebody to pay attention to the GNOME:Factory packages on older distros, I'm all for it, but I don't want to set up expectations that we can't meet.
