[opensuse-gnome] tracker dependencies?
Hi guys, not sure whether to file this as a bug report, something tells me WONTFIX or INVALID might be just a comment away, but this really does seem a bi overeager: # zypper rm tracker Loading repository data... Reading installed packages... Resolving package dependencies... The following packages are going to be REMOVED: brasero brasero-lang brasero-nautilus gnome-control-center gnome-control-center-branding-upstream gnome-session gnome-session-default-session gnome-shell gnome-shell-browser-plugin gnome-shell-lang gnome-tweak-tool gnome-tweak-tool-lang grilo-plugins libtracker-extract-0_12-0 libtracker-miner-0_12-0 libtracker-sparql-0_12-0 nautilus nautilus-lang nautilus-sendto nautilus-sendto-lang nautilus-sendto-plugin-upnp patterns-openSUSE-gnome_basis tracker No more Nautilus, no more Brasero (Brasero?!), no more gnome-tweak-tool just because I remove tracker? Are some dependencies a bit too strict here, maybe? This is https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=724554 :-) Shouldn't be too hard to fix that. Changing the Requires to Recommends is a good start. I have issued: zypper in google-chrome-stable_current_x86_64.rpm and/or downloaded and just installed it from the download dialog, I can run it from a terminal prompt but can't find it's launcher anywhere. Also, I have installed skpe and skpe recorder, Groupwise client etc., same results, icons are not present anywhere. Observation: The icons to launch these apps (which used to just install under opensuse 11.4), don't show up where I'd expect to find them (if at all). Question: When I install an application that doesn't show up in the "activities/applications" window, how do I create a launcher for it? Workaround: copy/paste a working .desktop file, modify it, save it... This doesn't sound very user friendly, maybe I'm missing something here. Thanks in advance. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+owner@opensuse.org
When an application like banshee is launched after double-clicking on a file in nautilus, or when you "open with" totem etc., and you're done listening to the file and click "close" it tells you that it will continue to run but that it will place the running application in the systray. Where does this go? I can still see the app running by issuing a ps command but I can't figure out how to find it on the systray. ALT+TAB doesn't show it. Confused. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+owner@opensuse.org

Hi openSUSE...? GNOME..??? If your on Gnome3 and 12.1 the notification panel (move mouse bottom right) will have the icons... Sounds like those applications your installing are not updating the database (as in not running rpm macros). Hi openSUSE...? GNOME..???
opensuse 12.1 x86_64 gnome (whatever the default is)

Simple, moved mouse to lower right hand corner and there was 1 application there but not the two that were launched.

I'll try to logout/login and see if that resolves this.

Hi, A few things... first of all, Totem and Banshee do have very different behaviors when closing... Totem exists and Banshee doesn't exit, it runs on the backgrounds and gets a notification icon in the lower right side of the screen.
Where does this go? I can still see the app running by issuing a ps command but I can't figure out how to find it on the systray. ALT+TAB doesn't show it. Confused.
Totem doesn't go anywhere, it just exists... Banshee runs on the background, read previous. N M
