The only app I've not been able to get working with pulseaudio is mythtv (bug submitted here: http://www.pulseaudio.org/ticket/94 ). PulseAudio seems to be a nice solution for this, and enables some cool features (remote playback, synchronized audio over a lan connection, per application persistent volume settings, etc...)
