[opensuse-gnome] Fwd: Re: [opensuse-factory] Gnome 2
Hey, People here might be able to test this too :-) It's also important to double-check that your hardware that isn't blacklisted is still detected as working for gnome-shell, btw. I changed my mind yesterday, and I'll likely add support for something like gnome.fallback=0/1.
Cool. I believe this will be useful.
I'd appreciate testing of the gnome-session-core package from home:vuntz:branches:GNOME:Factory: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/vuntz:/branches:/GNOME:/Fact... This contains support for the gnome.fallback=0/1 argument on the boot line, as well as blacklisting some hardware with regexps in this file: /usr/share/gnome-session/hardware-compatibility Currently, the Intel 830-865 hardware is blacklisted; it would need to be tested, though, as I don't have the hardware. If there's any hardware people think should really be blacklisted, then I need the output of "glxinfo | grep renderer". I just tested this in a virtualbox install. Seems to do whats advertised, but I HAD to boot with gnome.fallback=0 in order to get a "working" gnome-shell. Was that intended? Should'nt it actually boot with a pref for trying gnome-shell? This virtualbox has been running fine with gfx gnome-shell since atleast milestone 4. //Bjørn -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+owner@opensuse.org

It might just be an issue with virtualbox: I've had recent issues where sometimes, fallback mode is used in virtualbox. Are you sure it's related to the gnome-session changes? Hm, you might be right about that one. I still have your packages installed and now it booted into normal mode without forcing it. Excuse the noise. //Bjørn -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+owner@opensuse.org
