[opensuse-gnome] Upgrading to gnome 2.18
I have added the repo from opesuse and i am using sled sp1, when i clicked to update
the packages, i get a dependency conflict: Can't satisfy requirement libnautilus-burn.so.2 for helix-banshee-0.12.0-0.13.i586 Conflict Resolution: ( ) delete helix-banshee ( ) Ignore this requirement just here ( ) Ignore this requirement generally I search for banshee and do not see where i can update to the needed version. What do i need to install to get this to go away?
I have libnautilus-burn.so.2 on the filesystem and i also have helix-banshee 0.12 installed. I think i will "Ignore this requirement just here" -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

Ah, but is libnautilus-burn.so.2 going to be there when you upgrade? I suspect it will be libnautilus-burn.so.3 or something like that. You probably need to pull the helix banshee for factory or 10.2. -JP -- JP Rosevear <jpr@novell.com> Novell, Inc. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

After i did a package group update of gnome 2.18 from opensuse repo, everything broke again. This time i could not get it back; so i had to reload. I have come to the conclusion, that it will not work on SLED? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

it probably needs some other packages from 10.2/10.2, so, how did it break? what dependencies were missing? -- Rodrigo Moya <rodrigo@novell.com> -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

I have no idea how it broke. I will try to explain what i did clearly: I added the stable repo to yast and went into "package groups"->system->and selected GUI. All the things that were on my current install were now reflected in blue and had the avail version of 2.18 (see 1.png)(some had other versions but i believe these to be non-gnome updated related). So, instead of guessing what out of all the "blue" packages had to be installed, i updated them all by switching to "patterns" in yast and updating Gnome (see 2.png). This brought up some conflicts (see 3.png). So i cancelled that screen and went back to yast and switched to "search" and typed in "nautilus" and selected to update nautilus (see 4p.png). Then got more conflicts (see 5.png). So at this point, i installed packages 1 by one starting with things that start with "gnome". This included libgnomecanvas 2.14. This worked ok until the reboot and at that point, the gdm screen would just flash and never give me a chance to login. At this point, i back-dated libgnomecanvas to 2.12 as this has happened before and all i had to do was install libgnomecanvas 2.12. This did not work this time; so i remembered also libgnome got updated to 2.14, so i back-version that too and this did not work (gdm still flashes and will not let me login). So, then i back-versioned all the packages that were updated (to the best of my memory) and this did not work. So i re-loaded the OS. Chris PS i do not know if images are allowed on this list, so if they did not come through, please visit http://www.mytimewithgod.net/1.png and so on to see the images

Ok, so the initial conflicts dialog shows a few things. I checked the build repository and basically a) pidgin (the gaim replacement) is not building for 10.1 because of NetworkManager problems b) gnome-panel-nld is not being replaced by gnome-panel properly c) nautilus-sendto is not building for 10.1, and currently its not building because of a). Maw, Stanislav what do you think about fixing b) and pulling NM from G:S (or some other solution, but pulling in hal and everything there doesn't seem correct). -JP -- JP Rosevear <jpr@novell.com> Novell, Inc. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org
