[opensuse-gnome] syncevolution
Would there be interest in me submitting my non-moblin (GTK+ only) syncevolution packages to GNOME:Apps? If anyone wants to test them, they're in home:Riggwelter:GNOME and the package is called syncevolution-gtk - I've been using them for quite a while now and they seem (to me) to work pretty well. -- James Ogley (riggwelter) openSUSE Member GNOME Team and Planet SUSE e: riggwelter@opensuse.org w: http://opensuse.org/GNOME t: @riggwelter w: http://www.planetsuse.org openSUSE: Get It, Discover It, Create It at http://www.opensuse.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

There's already a syncevolution in Factory. What's the difference between yours and this one? And how can we merge all this? (GNOME:Apps is for packages that will end up in Factory, so having something that diverges from Factory doesn't make sense) Vincent -- Les gens heureux ne sont pas pressés. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

The one that's in Factory is for Moblin so it has the moblin style GUI. It's a build-time option so merging is tricky. I suppose it could be possible to link the packages and do a bit of %if magic to discern which is being built (or simply maintain two .spec files in the package). -- James Ogley (riggwelter) openSUSE Member GNOME Team and Planet SUSE e: riggwelter@opensuse.org w: http://opensuse.org/GNOME t: @riggwelter w: http://www.planetsuse.org openSUSE: Get It, Discover It, Create It at http://www.opensuse.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

It'd probably make sense; we could even have them both parallel-installable and use update-alternatives to control what the syncevolution binary points to. Want to work on that? :-) Vincent -- Les gens heureux ne sont pas pressés. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

I have a week off work next week so leave it with me, I'll read up on update-alternatives (not used it before) and see what I come up with. -- James Ogley (riggwelter) openSUSE Member GNOME Team and Planet SUSE e: riggwelter@opensuse.org w: http://opensuse.org/GNOME t: @riggwelter w: http://www.planetsuse.org openSUSE: Get It, Discover It, Create It at http://www.opensuse.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

You can check PackageKit in G:F for an example on how to use it (it's really just new Requires, and something to do in %post and %postun). Also, man update-alternatives will help you a bit.
