[opensuse-gnome] New/removed packages from GNOME repos
Hi, Here's a quick summary of new/removed packages from the GNOME repos in the last few days. Unless mentioned otherwise, all those changes have been submitted (and sometimes already accepted) to Factory. I'll also put a list of things we should try to package this week and next week. I'm not talking about what has changed since a lot has changed in the past two weeks. We more or less have GNOME 2.31.6 now, with many other upstream versions for other apps. Proposals for new packages ========================== If you want to help for this, feel free to send a mail here or to ping us on #opensuse-gnome. + teatime applet: http://www.gnomefiles.org/app.php/Teatime + geany-plugins: plugins for the geany text editor http://www.geany.org/ + libdmapsharing: library needed for DAAP support in rhythmbox http://flyn.org/projects/libdmapsharing/ + libgrss: library needed for RSS miner in tracker http://live.gnome.org/Libgrss + gnome-icon-theme-symbolic: symbolic icons for GNOME http://download.gnome.org/sources/gnome-icon-theme-symbolic/ + additional packages if we're fast: rygel, deja-dup, shotwell, gtkparasite Added ===== + atkmm: atk bindings for C++, split from gtkmm + dconf: new configuration backend, that is used by GSettings (which lives in glib). This has started replacing gconf. + folks: library used by empathy to handle contacts. It will make it possible to have metacontacts in the future. + gdk-pixbuf: library split from GTK+ + gtk3: GTK+ 3! We try to build nothing against it at the moment, but it's useful to have for developers. + libpeas: library to make it easy to integrate plugins in applications. This is targetted at GNOME 3, but we package it now to make life of developers easier. + mail-notification: a notification icon to monitor new mails + python-clutter*: python bindings for clutter. + telepathy-logger: new dependency for empathy, to make sure that all the logging of chats works even if you chat from another app than empathy (eg, gnome-shell) + yelp-xsl: some xslt stylesheets that will be used for GNOME 3 Added but not yet pushed to Factory =================================== + blueproximity: utility to lock your desktop when your bluetooth phone is not near the computer + jessyink: some inkscape magic to write slides Removed ======= - libtelepathy: old deprecated library, replaced by telepathy-glib - beagle stack (libbeagle, beagle-xesam, beagle-quickfinder, beagle): this is dead upstream, and we've replaced it with tracker. - galago stack (libgalago-gtk, libgalago, galago-sharp, galago-gtk-sharp, galago-daemon, evolution-galago, gaim-galago): the galago project is dead, and is really replaced by telepathy nowadays - glade: this is the glade 2.x application. It's now completely replaced by glade3. - glitz: old (and unmaintained for years) cairo GL backend. Replaced by some new GL backend in cairo 1.9.x. - mergeant: this was a gnome-db UI, and is now replaced by the gda-browser tool in recent libgda - libgnomedb3: this was a library that we kept only for mergeant Vincent -- Les gens heureux ne sont pas pressés. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

Hi,
Hi,

I'm taking care of deja-dup (ready to submit just finishing some tests) and rygel. The last one needs a newer gupnp-av which i already submitted to G:F and a new package gupnp-dlna that i'm taking care too. I belive gtkparasite is somewhere lost in some home at OBS but i'm not sure if it's really being developed upstream atm. Shotwell i think it should worth being package. I'll have a look.

It's ready in home:vuntz:branches:GNOME:Apps. I can't submit it right now, though, since it depends on libraw, which lives in X11:xfce:nilda. I've sent a mail to see if this can be pushed to Factory. I packaged gnome-icon-theme-symbolic https://build.opensuse.org/package/show?package=gnome-icon-theme-symbolic&project=home%3Abadshah400 Should we make notification-area icons like "configure display settings", "volume icon", "battery" and "updates" use these icons instead of the sonar-icon-theme icons by default? With our darkish panel, the monochrome symbolic-icon-theme might look better, what do you think? I submitted 45360 to clean up your package. If you're fine with it, accept it and then submit your package to GNOME:Factory.

Sure, we could do that. Some of those actually already do this in Factory, I think. Vincent -- Les gens heureux ne sont pas pressés. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

That's great. Thanks. Also, I have updated this page http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:GNOME_new_packages to help keep track of new/updated/deleted packages. You submitted to openSUSE:Factory :-) Can you submit it to GNOME:Factory first? :-) Vincent -- Les gens heureux ne sont pas pressés. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

Sorry, that was a mistake. I sent it off to openSUSE:Factory instead; this is the correct request created request id 45389 Bye -- Atri -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

Mmh, I see a couple of failures in factory now, e.g. librsvg and libnotify with: nothing provides pkgconfig(gtk+-3.0) that doesn't look right to me, Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, Program Manager openSUSE, aj@{novell.com,opensuse.org} Twitter: jaegerandi | Identica: jaegerandi SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126

That's because the gtk3 submission has not yet been approved: osc request show 45092 Look at GNOME:Factory instead ;-) Vincent -- Les gens heureux ne sont pas pressés. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

Mmh, I thought "We try to build nothing against it at the moment..", now I'm confused. But I trust you to do the right thing and just try to confuse me ;). Mmh, I thought "We try to build nothing against it at the moment..", now I'm confused.
That's because I lied ;-) It's a bit more complex: + recent libnotify need both gtk2 and gtk3 to build, but doesn't link to any (it uses dlopen()) + librsvg has a gtk3 BuildRequires to build the gtk3 engine. But by default, librsvg won't force you to use gtk3. I guess a better summary is that we don't want to have anything bringing libgtk3 in an installation, unless the user explicitly starts installing gtk3 stuff.
