[opensuse-gnome] Traditional menu and menu bar applet icon
[Trying again after subscribing to the ML] Hi everyone. Some time ago I filed a bug to include some branding for the GNOME panel. Namely, I think it would be nice to replace the GNOME foot on the traditional GNOME menu as well as the menu bar applet with the openSUSE logo. A nice icon=B9 which would fit very well has already been done by Jimmac. The bug can be found here=B2. Vincent Untz asked me to mail to the list for some discussion about this. Icon you proposed, is beautiful, but unreadable when smaller than 48x48. You might need to request new icon, from jimmac for example. BTW, SLAB also should have some little branding inside ;) . -- Jakub 'Livio' Rusinek http://liviopl.jogger.pl/

Michael it's a compilated icon. 22x22 and 16x16 icons should be the simplest. Icon, you proposed is a bit complicated. For this size circle around geeko's head is not needed etc.

I know and I appreciate his work, however SVG, which is possible to found in openSUSE, is by default in 48x48. Scaling down causes problems with readability and icon becomes blurry.

There's no notice about openSUSE in SLAB. Maybe "About openSUSE" [1] launcher (and maybe "About GNOME" [2] launcher) in system area, since it contains what usual GNOME's "System" menu contains ;) ? [1] ggreeter? [2] gnome-about -- Jakub 'Livio' Rusinek http://liviopl.jogger.pl/

This image is from the old-style GNOME menu bar in SUSE Linux 10.0 - something like this in place of the computer icon in the Computer menu could work well. -- Kevin "Yo" Dupuy - openSUSE Member Public Mail: <kevin.dupuy@opensuse.org> Meet Bob Barr - Libertarian for President - <http://www.BobBarr2008.com/>

Actually, I recall from time to time people coming into the IRC channels asking how they can change the icon in slab, so maybe there is a need for something more attractive than what we have now...

I absolutely agree. It should also be the icon for the SLAB/Computer menu. -- Kevin "Yo" Dupuy - openSUSE Member Public Mail: <kevin.dupuy@opensuse.org> Meet Bob Barr - Libertarian for President - <http://www.BobBarr2008.com/> -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org
