To add some more I found in bugzilla;
5) Specto https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=293741
Two releases and none since Aug 2007, I would say G:C only.
6) Bookmarks applet https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=274229
No releases since 2005, I would say G:C only
7) totem-gstreamer and totem-xine https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=264844
Fedora is doing it in one spec and using update-alternatives to select the default so I don't think we need a single source package (maybe). -JP -- JP Rosevear <jpr@novell.com> Novell, Inc. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org
5) Specto Two releases and none since Aug 2007, I would say G:C only.
Right-ho :)
6) Bookmarks applet No releases since 2005, I would say G:C only
If that - is it still alive?
7) totem-gstreamer and totem-xine Fedora is doing it in one spec and using update-alternatives to select the default so I don't think we need a single source package (maybe).
We have totem-xine in G:C/Factory as an alternative to totem. See http://jamesthevicar.com/index.cgi/2008/03/18 and ignore the fact that it refers to my home project :) -- James Ogley, openSUSE Member: GNOME Team and Planet SUSE. riggwelter@opensuse.org http://opensuse.org/GNOME http://planetsuse.org openSUSE: Get It, Discover It, Create It at http://www.opensuse.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

It still works fine. I've a couple of improvements if you'd like to use them: http://www.alunos.dcc.fc.up.pt/~c0607045/trash/bookmarks-menu.tgz I can make sure it keeps running, and let you know if there is a problem. This is a really useful applet though, so it would be great to have it bundled with the default selection. From the wishlist (provided), mw and I have been looking into moving mail-notification from G:C to Factory in time for 11.0. A slight hitch is that the new release of m-n introduces a non-standard build system (Nnnng!) but I hope to have it building okay again today. -- James Ogley, openSUSE Member: GNOME Team and Planet SUSE. riggwelter@opensuse.org http://opensuse.org/GNOME http://planetsuse.org openSUSE: Get It, Discover It, Create It at http://www.opensuse.org

Never tried giver, but reading the description, it seems everybody has to run giver. It's a different use case, although useful -- but it will also just work with your IM client and file transfer over telepathy-salut ;-) Don't know if pidgin supports this, but empathy will at some point. It lets the user have a small directory that he can share via http/webdav (using apache).

Hmm... That sounds like an interesting package. Does it also allow remote users to upload files to the directory as well? Or is it only one-way sharing? Such a tool could be VERY useful. I happen to be dealing with certain types of users right now who need to exchange large files with me and explaining to them where to send it other than email is very harrowing. :-) Providing a simple link to my machine would make life easier on me. You can configure it to receive files, but it's a bit less useful than giver since you have to be told that you were sent a file... However, it works quite well if you want to share a few files to lots of people. Eg, I was using it at my lab and I was sharing a doc about zeroconf under Linux so people could learn about how to share their music, share files, etc.
Such a tool could be VERY useful. I happen to be dealing with certain types of users right now who need to exchange large files with me and explaining to them where to send it other than email is very harrowing. :-) Providing a simple link to my machine would make life easier on me.
Well, the main use case is local networks with rendezvous. It seems what you're describing could be on non-local networks? gnome-user-share can probably work this way too, but you need to know the right URL, which was not shown in the UI last time I used it...
