[opensuse-gnome] Using i3 with gnome-shell
Does anyone here use i3 window manager regularly with gnome-shell ? How is the experience ? -- Sankar P http://psankar.blogspot.com -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+owner@opensuse.org

It is not possible. GNOME Shell has its internal window manager (mutter) and can't work with another one. -- Frederic Crozat Project Manager Enterprise Desktop SUSE -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+owner@opensuse.org

Is 'not possible' is a bit harsh... rather: is not tested/supported by any of the GNOME Team ;) http://blog.hugochinchilla.net/2013/03/using-gnome-3-with-i3-window-manager/ gives some guide on how to configure it. Obviously: any bug you encounter will be asked to be verified using Mutter as Window Manager. Hmm the article you are showing is not using GNOME 3 (at least, the screenshot) but Unity.. I'm not convinced at all you can run GNOME Shell without mutter. -- Frederic Crozat Project Manager Enterprise Desktop SUSE -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+owner@opensuse.org
