[opensuse-gnome] Banshee in GNOME:Apps
Hi all, A few time ago I've sent an email to Gabriel and Aaron asking if we could move banshee development project for oS:Factory to GNOME:Apps and then update the Banshee repository from the stable release in GNOME:Apps (I'll keep it updated). Just as a heads up, we have dbus-sharp and dbus-sharp-glib already on oS:Factory, so I've SR'ed banshee to GNOME:Apps. The plan is the following: 1. notify-sharp - This package needs to be patched to use dbus-sharp and dbus-sharp-glib, I've done this already and it's on Mono and Mono:Factory. - Vincent, can you file a change devel request from GNOME:Apps/notify-sharp to Mono:Factory/notify-sharp? We have the updated package already prepared. Talked with Stephen, it's ok that we hold that package. - Stephen, any news with upstream to see if we can get that patch upstreamed (or if that package is even maintained upstream?)? 2. I've submitted Banshee 2.1.0 to GNOME:Apps. Feel free to take action, furthermore, do you also want to host banshee-community-extensions on GNOME:Apps? Let me know so I can submit it. With dbus-sharp and dbus-sharp-glib on oS:Factory, we're cool, but would be neat we could handle 1. first so that we have it all running cool. Hi Nelson, I'd like to see banshee-community-extensions in GNOME:Apps Do you know why the openSUSE banshee-community-extensions is missing the visualisation extension that normally comes in that bundle? Rich

Hi Richard, I'm not sure what that extension would be, when I picked up the banshee repos/packages I've kept the build to match what was being done previously. I know there are two extensions at least disabled in this package, one for lirc and another for clutterflow (I believe this is the one you mean). I'm going to check this later on and test it. If we can provide it, I'll enable it... though from a first approach I think this is most likely to keep backward compatibility with older releases of *SUSE. I'll report back about this soon. Thanks for bringing this into my attention. NM 2011/7/15 Richard Brown <rdb@ccb.ac.uk>:

Hi Richard, I was looking at the dependencies required for that plugin and this is what I found out... * clutter-sharp is a dependency for that plugin and was maintained upstream by Aaron, unfortunatly last git entries are from 2009, it seems it's no longer maintained upstream. * With the next Banshee release, it will be for GTK+ 3, and clutter-sharp doesn't support GTK3. So we might reach a dead end. I've sent an email to the banshee devel list to check for additional information, but since we're moving to GTK3, I'm not really sure if we can bring this extension back. Either way, I'll wait for the devels to say something about it and see how it goes. NM 2011/7/15 Nelson Marques <nmo.marques@gmail.com>:

Just as a correction, the visualization plugin is actually openVPN, which requires taoframework-opengl ('maintained' on Mono:Community) but last commit was 29 months ago. That's disable as everything points that it's also no longer maintained. The clutter plugin is mainly for rendering a artwork cover gallery for as much as I did understood. Done: 76369 FWIW, I've noticed we also have gsf-sharp and log4net in GNOME:Factory, which are mono packages. Do you want to move them too? (note that gsf-sharp seems to not be used anymore, so we could drop it instead)
