[opensuse-gnome] Include cheese?
In openSUSE 11.0 Beta 2, Cheese wasn't included in the main GNOME Pattern, I think it should be as it is a very valuable app to have on the desktop. Thanks, John -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

I agree. There are undoubtedly some objections to the usefulness of the app, but it's still a fun thing that interests users. If there's no room on the CD, at least could it be added to the DVD pattern? -- Kevin "Yo" Dupuy | Public Mail <kevin.dupuy@opensuse.org> | Yo.media: 225-590-5961 Swift Change for a Green Future: Kat Swift for President www.VoteSwift.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org
+1. Also, every other distro seems to have it; so it would be lame if openSUSE didn't, wouldn't it? ;-) Greets, Chris Am Sonntag, den 11.05.2008, 20:26 -0500 schrieb Kevin Dupuy:

But it is slow and unusable for most people... Better find place for translations, irrationally removed from CDs... -- Jakub 'Livio' Rusinek http://liviopl.jogger.pl/

I agree, and it's also a non-essential application. Regards, Alberto -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

Come to think of it, Andy and I had a devil of a time getting Cheese to work with UVCVideo drivers on 10.3. I should verify that the problem no longer exist on the beta this week. If it doesn't work, that could be cause for concern as UVCvideo seems to be a fairly common need for modern webcams. And I disagree that Cheese is "non-essential." True, it's not a life or death thing, but in today's world, video has truly taken over and everyone wants to be able to upload videos to the glory for their youtube and vlogs. In my Deaf community for example, it is an absolute necessity and thus Cheese would be a major factor in convincing Deaf users to consider adopting openSUSE instead of some other (ptooey) operating system.
