[opensuse-gnome] Sonar for GTK+ 3, help needed
Hi, As you might know, the theming changed in GTK+ 3. We can now use CSS. However, one issue with that is that we don't have a default theme for GTK+ 3, and GTK+ 3 apps will look ugly. It's not critical for 11.4, but we still have the GNOME 3 preview stuff using GTK+ 3. Is there anybody who would be interested in trying to port Sonar to CSS? Adwaita [1] can be a good example of how to do this. Btw, related to this: I submitted delete requests for gtk3-engines and gtk3-engine-murrine, since they were using the old theming API. We might want to add gtk-theme-engine-clearlooks to Factory, though, since this one is using the new theming API. Opinions? Yes, push it up to Factory. We don't loose anything. Maybe we should ask Garrett to do the CSS port? I'm sure he's sitting idle on the Studio stuff ;-) -- Andrew Wafaa IRC: FunkyPenguin GPG: 0x3A36312F openSUSE: Get It, Discover It, Create It at http://www.opensuse.org

Vincent, Are there any technical reasons for this? I'd recon that though I am not aware of the popularity of murrine over the openSUSE Community, I am pretty sure it is one of the most popular engines around. Such a move will most likely disable a lot of artwork around and theming capabilities. Are we sure we want to restrict users from such a choice? (I know people can still compile it, but that's a huge stab on user friendliness). NM

Yes: GTK+ 3 comes with a new theming API, so murrine needs to be ported to this before we can ship it.
