[opensuse-gnome] Gimmie
Dunno if any of you have been following the development of Alex G's cool & rocking panel replacement Gimmie. I've added packages to my home repo (home:Riggwelter) which are currently 0.2.3, patched to use YaST where appropriate. This patch has now been merged into SVN and I'm building the latest trunk. If you're interested in testing it, please give it a hammering (0.2.x can be added as a panel applet if you prefer to keep your panels for the time being). I'm also going to package up the libgmail python module to add GMail support to Gimmie - it'll be called python-libgmail. -- James Ogley james@usr-local-bin.org http://usr-local-bin.org GNOME for openSUSE: http://software.opensuse.org/download/GNOME:/ Help end poverty: http://oxfam.org.uk/in -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

I'm all for moving this into G:C and even shipping it for 10.3, at least on the ftp tree. -JP -- JP Rosevear <jpr@novell.com> Novell, Inc. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

I'll move it into G:C real soon. As for shipping it in 10.3, we could add a session to /usr/share/xsessions to allow users to experiment with GNOME using Gimmie instead of the classic panel (with a MASSIVE warning when they login of course :)). -- James Ogley james@usr-local-bin.org http://usr-local-bin.org GNOME for openSUSE: http://software.opensuse.org/download/GNOME:/ Help end poverty: http://oxfam.org.uk/in -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

yeah, seems to be the best solution, although long term we might want to have configuration settings for gnome-session to start a specific program for each feature (window manager, panel, etc). That seems to me a better option to me than hardcoding things in several apps. -- Rodrigo Moya <rodrigo@novell.com> -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org
I'm building the latest trunk.
