[opensuse-gnome] pulseaudio and volume applet
Hi After all the discussions and bugs, we've decided to patch the volume applet (the upstream one) to run the PA volume control instead of its own one. Also, the volume applet is now in the default setup for the panel, so this should solve the 'I want a simple volume slider' problem The remaining issue is how to best offer access to the nice PA features (like the speaker setup thing). Some options: * leave padevchooser icon on the system tray. This might seem redundant, since it offers the same features the volume applet offers (plus others, of course), although it doesn't seem to disturb too much * add menu items to the volume applet's menu to open the different PA tools any thoughts ? -- Rodrigo Moya <rodrigo@novell.com> -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org
* add menu items to the volume applet's menu to open the different PA tools
This seems the better option to me - two volume controls would look confusing as well as redundant. -- James Ogley, openSUSE Member: GNOME Team and Planet SUSE. riggwelter@opensuse.org http://opensuse.org/GNOME http://planetsuse.org openSUSE: Get It, Discover It, Create It at http://www.opensuse.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

IMHO this would be the best option. Ivan. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

I support adding a menu item to the right-click menu of the volume applet. -- Kevin "Yo" Dupuy | Public Mail <kevin.dupuy@opensuse.org> | Yo.media: 225-590-5961 Swift Change for a Green Future: Kat Swift for President www.VoteSwift.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

I prefer the latter approach. Having two sound-related applets/icons on the panel seems like clutter, and I think most users won't distinguish conceptually between the two. -- Hans Petter -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

I think the best solution would be to have left click be the volume control, and have right click bring up padevchooser. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

Yay to that from me. The right-click menu from the 'traditional' volume control applet should be pretty redundant now we have PA. Greets, Chris -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org
