[opensuse-gnome] Gnome 3.4 default Theme

Hello, During the last times by using previous releases of openSUSE, I made several changes on default Gnome Theme and Icon Theme, loosing the original Look&Feel of this DE, then now I would like to roll it back to see how is looking the default 12.2 Gnome. Is there anybody being so kind to pass me these informations please? a) Theme b) Icon c) Fonts Thanks, -- Marco Calistri (amdturion) opensuse 12.2 (Mantis) 64 bit - Kernel 3.4.6-2.10-desktop Gnome 3.4.2 Intel® Core™ i5-2410M CPU @ 2.30GHz × 4 - Intel® Sandybridge Mobile -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+owner@opensuse.org

Well, I would like openSUSE should try to provide additional themes for GNOME 3.4 beside the old one Adwaita. I know there are several external resources available around, but official themes should be welcomed I guess. Marco, The problem with the themes is that authors don't maintain them properly; this is really an old subject, and I've fought a few times for such cause, time has proven others wise when they pulled the same argument I'm pulling now... I can even give you a quick example... The Sonar 3 theme available in openSUSE (gtk3-metatheme-sonar) was made by the same artist who once run gnome-shell.deviantart.com; that doesn't exist anymore... because most artists like to do themes but not maintain them; GNOME and GTK3 API once in a while is improved and themes need refactoring... often they don't get that refactoring from the authors... thus... they don't work properly... Really, this is something that any distributor avoids, because it's a waste of time and so far nothing has really changed... There's no point in making efforts in packaging themes if on the next release they are broken and never get fixed. Hope you understand and I share sympathy for that cause, NM Melhores cumprimentos, Nelson M. Hi Nelson, Ok I understood that it is not so easy to manage themes but hopefully I would like openSUSE providing at least a better one than Adwaita and possibly adding into official repo one more theme too, in order a user could decide. Marco, We've discussed this in the past, and the it always ended up hitting on the same issue; The only reliable option for us to support more themes is that they are supported by upstream. We encouraged artists to do that; we've helped with packaging, API documentation etc... And in the end the artists vanished into the mists... Really, we can't just pick a theme and use it... but then again... what happens when the dude vanishes and the theme doesn't get updated? In the next version we end up having the same problem... Users should custom their systems, not us... We tried dude, gtk3-metatheme-sonar is an example of that; There's we can do about it, we're not artists :/ Melhores cumprimentos, Nelson M.
