Hi all.
Why is not available SubpixelHinting for Gnome by default, as is in KDE? I found out that, when i want to enable subpixel for Gnome and Gtk apps(like Firefox, Thunderbird...), i have to reinstall cairo and mozilla-xulrunner190 packages for 11.0 and for 11.1 i have to reinstall cairo package from repo http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/Fisiu/ If i´m correct, system-cairo option is disabled. Why? Any patents? If not, could it be available (not have to be enabled) by default for the next release 11.2?
Thanks for explanation.
Rasto,
We implemented a new patch in Cairo for Factory already. Please have a look at that package and see if that's what you're after.
Cheers, Magnus

The Fisiu patch is far superior. Makes the fonts look the way $deity intended.

Has it been sent upstream?

Hi.
Patch by Fisiu is still much better. You should try it from http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/Fisiu/openSUSE_Factory/ and you'll see. There is cairo-1.8.6-21.1 package. I tried it on Milestone2.

I'm not asking you specifically -- I'm asking people pushing this patch in general :-) I don't understand why something like this is not pushed upstream, and I don't even want to look at which patch looks more correct code-wise; that's why it should just go upstream.
