[opensuse-gnome] GNOME 2.26 for openSUSE 11.1
Hello, The KDE people, when they build newer KDE for older versions of openSUSE, use their Factory project. If the older openSUSE version doesn't provide a requirement (eg, a newer version of a package from the base distribution), they link it to their KDE Factory repo, and disable that particular package for the Factory build. Have a look at KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop and for instance the libgpod3 package to see what I mean. I'd like to do the same when we do backport GNOME 2.26 for openSUSE 11.1. Would this approach be OK with everyone? Thanks, Magnus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

Indeed, this seems to work well for them as I have had no issue with their 4.1 builds for 11.0 +1. Ye I use KDE too at times. Good to see what else is out there ;) -- Andrew Wafaa, openSUSE Member: GNOME / Marketing. openSUSE: Get It, Discover It, Create It at http://www.opensuse.org awafaa@opensuse.org | http://www.wafaa.eu -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

Before replying, I have a longer term question: when we'll update for GNOME 2.28 in 11.3, will we want to build 2.28 for 11.1 too, or only for 11.2? (this proposed solution implies 2.28 for 11.1) Vincent -- Les gens heureux ne sont pas pressés. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

I plugged my brain: once we're done with 2.26, we can create a GNOME:11.1:2.26 project and copy all packages there. Plan sounds good to me.
