[opensuse-gnome] gnome-keyring-pam testing
Hi all, there was a new sub-package "gnome-keyring-pam" part of the gnome-keyring package in GNOME 2.20 this should replace the pam_keyring module. The module is intended to give you the ability to have your keyring unlocked on login (for NetworkManager, Evolution, etc passwords) We'd like to get some testing to try enabling it by default in openSUSE 11.0. So... if you're feeling adventurous install it from the 10.3 repo and let us know or file bugs. -JP -- JP Rosevear <jpr@novell.com> Novell, Inc. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

I've been using it since it was added to Factory, seems to be working fine for me. There's an interesting "feature" whereby if I S2D and then resume, I get prompted for the passphrase. Not sure if it's a bug or feature but it adds a feel of being a bit more secure. -- James Ogley james@usr-local-bin.org http://usr-local-bin.org GNOME for openSUSE: http://software.opensuse.org/download/GNOME:/ Help end poverty: http://oxfam.org.uk/in -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

Well, it seems to be working fine for me, so I guess #332390 can be closed now :)

Make it default for 11.0 ;)

Sure, if I found one. Cheers! -- Igor Jagec

Filed: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=333402 to have it added to the patterns. -JP -- JP Rosevear <jpr@novell.com> Novell, Inc. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org
I have it installed on 10.3 after removing pam_keyring. While gnome-keyring-pam seems active, I still have to unlock the keyring for every session as it asks for the keyring password including an "Automatically unlock keyring on next login" which does not have any impact for me. To make it delicious, mind that I have: a) Different keyring and login passwords b) Automatic login enabled for gdm Do I have to disable automatic login and set the same keyring passwords (latter is currently not possible due to a missing change password feature in the manager; patch is available though) in order for it to work as advertised? Asides, I don't get any of those high CPU load issues noted in this thread using gnome-kerying-pam. --- Martin -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

This is the key issue - if you'll pardon the pun. -- James Ogley james@usr-local-bin.org http://usr-local-bin.org GNOME for openSUSE: http://software.opensuse.org/download/GNOME:/ Help end poverty: http://oxfam.org.uk/in -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

I'm seeing gnome-keyring-daemon running at 75% with evo and e-d-s each running at around 20% with gnome-keyring-pam install. I don't see it otherwise. -Gary -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

I don't see this, could it be a local issue caused by your setup? -- James Ogley james@usr-local-bin.org http://usr-local-bin.org GNOME for openSUSE: http://software.opensuse.org/download/GNOME:/ Help end poverty: http://oxfam.org.uk/in -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

I saw this as well this morning with evolution as well. Not sure why yet though. -JP -- JP Rosevear <jpr@novell.com> Novell, Inc. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

Of course I can no longer replicate. Gary, can you? -JP -- JP Rosevear <jpr@novell.com> Novell, Inc. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org
It's working OK here. Just installed and it seems it's not presenting this issue. Regards, Alberto Il giorno mer, 17/10/2007 alle 10.00 -0400, JP Rosevear ha scritto:
