[opensuse-gnome] Possible Packages to Drop (or move to GNOME:Community)
As I read through maw's excellent worksheet yesterday, I found some packages of questionable value to the main distro so I thought I'd propose some actions for those. Please let me know of any feedback. Need volunteers for the testing section, speak up its easy to do! Needs testing for review: gaim-galago (does it work with pidgin?) gnome-netstatus (does it work with NetworkManager at all?) Move to GNOME:Community: conglomerate (no new releases in 2.5 years, not installed by default) gnomeicu/icu (is this widely used given we have pidgin?) fyre (not installed by default) gqview (yet another image viewer) libghttp (nothing depends on this library) Drop entirely: glade (obsoleted by glade3) gnopericus (obsoleted by orca?) metacity-themes (not sure this was ever used except internally) libgnomeservice (nothing depends on this library) -JP -- JP Rosevear <jpr@novell.com> Novell, Inc. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

This is my favourite application for image viewing, please, don't move it to GNOME:Community. I'm sure I'm not the only one who likes that application :) Cheers! -- Igor Jagec

I'm not entirely sure if gnopernicus is not widely used, but if I were a betting man (and I am), I would say it is safe to drop it as well. Orca is heavily developed and has lots of tight integration with other products, including the upcoming FireFox 3.0. (They've been testing against nightly builds of FF daily and Orca users are raving about what FF can do for them now.) It is my advice that we advise our users to use Orca, as it simplifies our AT infrastructure, in my opinion. yes, orca obsoletes gnopernicus
metacity-themes (not sure this was ever used except internally) libgnomeservice (nothing depends on this library)
this was part of the gnome-session rewrite, but it never got used at all, not even upstream, where the SVN repo has seen no commits in a long time, so this can be safely dropped -- Rodrigo Moya <rodrigo@novell.com> -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

AFAIK Glade-3 still does not replace all that Glade-2 has to offer. I forgot what the details are exactly, but there where complaints about that on #gnome-hackers.
