[opensuse-gnome] GNOME 3 issues
I installed openSUSE from the GNOME 3 Live CD (thanks, Frederic!), jumping ship from another distro where GNOME 3 isn't a priority. It's mostly terrific, but I'm having a few small issues. 1. How do I disable Automatic Login? It seems obvious, pulling up User Accounts with My Account in the myname pull-down, but the switch has no effect. The GDM login seems to be accessible only if I power on and then log out. 2. The Flash plug-in works in Firefox, but is simply missing in Epiphany. Is there a way to implicitly specify its use in Epiphany? Is swfdec-mozilla a reliable alternative? 3. Not a big deal, but my cheap and badly-supported (by HP) LaserJet 1020 is recognized but is not receiving print jobs. I followed the 11.3 howto for installing the proprietary driver, but no success. I recently upgraded the printer's firmware to work with my wife's iMac, but it isn't working there, either. When I plugged it into Ubuntu the first time, I was told a driver needed to be downloaded and everything happened automatically. Any help would be appreciated. Welcome :-)

YaST -> User and Group Management -> Expert Options -> Login Settings -> Auto Login In openSUSE, YaST is the place where you tinker all system specific settings.

I have never used epiphany. But IIRC last time when I tried, I needed to install gnash for playing youtube in epiphany.

This may be a better question to opensuse-kernel list or may be reporting in bugzilla/forums. Can't help much here. Sorry. Sankar http://psankar.blogspot.com -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

That's because the Flash plugin is not compatible with GTK+ 3. So right now, no Flash in Epiphany. I guess it's just a matter of time before this gets fixed. User Accounts doesn't yet support the "SUSE way" to handle autologin, we need to fix that. Until it is fixed, as Sankar suggested, use "YaST -> User and Group Management -> Expert Options -> Login Settings -> Auto Login"

gnash, as suggested by vuntz, epiphany doesn't allow gtk2 "based" plugins for now (like flashplayer)

This doesn't seem GNOME 3 specific. -- Frederic Crozat <fcrozat@novell.com> Novell -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org
Is there a HowTo regarding bootsplash themes? On occasion when I run Brasero, Packagekit (or something) convinces me to install a large number of missing packages, including openSUSE bootsplash branding. Since lately I find GNOME blue more soothing, I'd like to switch back to the GNOME theme. I can see the folder in /etc/sysconfig, but the GNOME theme doesn't seem to be a configurable option in YaST. GNOME3 Bootsplash theme is not in GNOME:STABLE:3.0. You can find the packages in GNOME:Media project (openSUSE_11.4 repository). -- Frederic Crozat <fcrozat@novell.com> Novell -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org
