Patterns should be adjusted to match intended audiences and be (de)selectable during installation. All items not part of a selected pattern should not be installed by default. If something is thought a marvellous _must_have_ application ( a killer like PA ) then it should be advertised and offered by a link on the desktop rather than installed by default leaving it up to the user to find out about it.
