[opensuse-gnome] GNOME:Factory - GNOME 3.7.91 to be published
Hi GNOMEs! The GNOME Team is proud to have integrated GNOME 3.7.91 by now into GNOME:Factory and all (but a few) packages are built. So, we will be 'opening the gates' later this evening, re-enabling the repository to be published and possibly breaking your installation (of course we hope this won't happen.. a good part of us are already running on those packages from our GNOME:Next staging repo). There are likely a few update - questions we did not get completely correct yet: a lot of packages change name, got split/obsoleted. If possible, report them either here on the ML or in the bug tracker (best would be one by one.. but I'm dreaming :P ). Thanks a lot! May your systems be stable. Hi Gnomers, Any one updated to 3.7.x on openSUSE 12.3? Thanks a bunch to openSUSE Gnome team for their hard work. Arif On Tue, Mar 19, 2013 at 11:22 PM, Dominique Leuenberger a.k.a. Dimstar <dimstar@opensuse.org> wrote:

Hi Gnomers,
Any one updated to 3.7.x on openSUSE 12.3?
Hi Arif, The repository GNOME:Factory targets 'Factory', not openSUSE 12.3. As GNOME 3.7 is the dev branch, this is not being made available yet for the stable openSUSE 12.3 release. This is expected to happen (hopefully) shortly after GNOME 3.8 is actually being release (by means of a GNOME:STABLE:3.8 repository). GNOME 3.8 release is scheduled to be (by upstream) on March 27. It will take us probably around 1 week to integrate and backport what's needed on openSUSE 12.3 (OBS powers available as a pre-requisite). As for running the above repo: yes, I do run it :) It works mostly good, with the exception of gedit crashing when scrolling (the fix for that is already prepared and ready for inclusion). Best regards, Dominique -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+owner@opensuse.org
Hi Dominique, Thanks for the kind reply. Sorry my bad, i was referring to Factory on openSUSE 12.3. Can we test it on openSUSE 12.3? Does some of the stuff work, like screen brightness for laptop etc?. Asking because in 3.6.x it was broken for me on openSUSE 12.2. Now on 12.3 it is working fine. So the gedit crash is generic or only on your system? Best wishes Arif On Wed, Mar 20, 2013 at 5:24 PM, Dominique Leuenberger a.k.a. Dimstar <dimstar@opensuse.org> wrote:

You will have to move the entire system up to Factory. There are already dependencies (libicu) updated and linked in that will make it hard to apply this repository as-is on openSUSE 12.3... sorry.
Does some of the stuff work, like screen brightness for laptop etc?. Asking because in 3.6.x it was broken for me on openSUSE 12.2. Now on 12.3 it is working fine.
That should work just fine... at least does on my system (Dell Precision M4500).

That's a generic one, caused by a bug in GTK+ Best regard, Dominique -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+owner@opensuse.org

It might make sense to enable building against 12.3 in G:F (without publishing) so we can start making sure it at least builds fine. What do you think? Can be done, for sure... on the other hand: until 1 week ago it was called openSUSE 12.3 and that's what we initially built against without issues. to be sure: added 12.3 as a target (unpublished); which will ensure all is fine and gives us another 'head start' when we want to branch off G:S:3.8 Best regards, Dominique -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+owner@opensuse.org

A short follow-up here: some might have seen it already: GNOME:STABLE:3.8 repositories have been published: http://dominique.leuenberger.net/blog/2013/04/gnome-3-8-for-opensuse-12-3-go... Sorry.. it was 2 weeks and one day instead of only one week.
