Hi all,
As you might know, we had a GSoC student who worked on porting the software center used in Ubuntu to openSUSE. There's a package here: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show?package=software-center&project=...
This needs to be updated to the latest release, and possibly cleaned up so we can push this to Factory. It's worth pointing out that, since we do not generate the appstream xml data for openSUSE, it will not just magically work, but this is something we could fix after 12.1 is released, with an online update.
Any volunteer for that?

We need: * po4a > Need a devel project for this * perl-Locale-gettext (required to build po4a), submitted to devel:languages:perl and requested to forward to oS:Factory * perl-Term-ReadKey (required to build po4a), submitted to devel:languages:perl and requested to forward to oS:Factory * perl-Text-WrapI18N (required to build po4a), submitted devel:languages:perl and requested to forward to oS:Factory
Patch1 was rebased into the latest release (4.1.23.5).

I've remade the package (no alphabetical order yet), it builds but it doesn't work. Somehow it fails while trying to load Ubuntu one service on dbus (at least that's the error message suggests to me).
There is a submission pending on the package you pointed, but that submission adds very strange things, specially the %post script.
Regarding my package:
1. Rebased software-center-4.1.17-alexef_curfact.patch 2. Added software-center-opensuse-setup-fixes.patch - changes bug reports to bugzilla@novell.com, uses the unbranded-software-center.desktop file and makes some changes. 3. Added some sources from the submission pending (I'm not sure on how to implement them) 4. Removed ubuntu branded icons and added one of our own (don't blame me I'm not an artist) 5. Loads of stuff on spec.
Please take a look and see what I need to change. I'm not sure if we want to restart dbus on %post as the pending submission requests, after installing this package would be wiser for the user to be prompted for a reboot (dbus services) than hardcoding a 'service dbus restart' on %post, it will probably nuke users sessions.
