Hi all, Sorry to bring this all again, but it seems I failed big time and Cantarell fonts really do not have support for Cyrillic glyphs. As many people are aware the Russian speaking community is a big part of the openSUSE user base (for example, the default install does contemplate the russian lang packages alongside with german and another I don't recall, probably english). I've taken the liberty of opening a bug report upstream (bgo#652833), and we'll see what happens. As for openSUSE GNOME there's two paths we can follow: 1. Continue with Cantarell and check future developments from upstream with Cantarell and kindly suggest our Russian users to change fonts upon install; 2. Use a font that supports the current glyphs (ex: latin) and russian as default (eventually everyone should be happy). I know before hand that Deja Vu fonts do have some support for Cyrillic glyphs alongside with others (ex: greek). I just thought it would be interesting to bring the subject once more to your concern and see if we can do something to make life easier for our Russian speaking community.
