It's unclear what the issue exactly is, but I'd guess /var/log/messages might have some useful hints.

I think maybe this for the video: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=753942 There was a message that the wireless driver failed to request the firmware, so it was disabled. I re-installed from the latest Live iso, with the same result. When I reverted to Build 0154 (2012-02-11) everything worked except GNOME 3.4. I'll wait to see the resolution of the bug before I upgrade.
