I have one openSUSE 11.4 workstation [desktop] that is having problems after upgrading to GNOME 3. Evolution and Empathy start but never seem to connect. Evolution is just checking-folders and empathy is "Connecting...". Eventually Evolution fails with a cannot-connect-to.... message. But other IMAP clients on the host work fine. Potentially related - Going into system settings / network results in the warning "The system network services are not compatible with this version." And there is no network manager in the top-bar. Any suggestions? I'm pretty sure he didn't follow the upgrade path described on http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:GNOME_3.0 : he didn't upgrade NetworkManager to the version from GNOME:STABLE:3.0
It was installed via the one-click install method. The network manager is NetworkManager-0.8.9997-2.1.x86_64 which, as far as I can tell, is the correct version. My laptop which is working perfectly has NetworkManager-0.8.9997-2.1.x86_64. His networkmanager packages are: linux-o55k:~ # rpm -qa | grep -i networkmanager NetworkManager-gnome-0.8.9997-1.2.x86_64 NetworkManager-pptp-gnome-0.8.999-1.1.x86_64 NetworkManager-glib-0.8.9997-2.1.x86_64 NetworkManager-openvpn-0.8.999-1.1.x86_64 NetworkManager-openvpn-gnome-0.8.999-1.1.x86_64 NetworkManager-0.8.9997-2.1.x86_64 NetworkManager-pptp-0.8.999-1.1.x86_64 libproxy1-networkmanager-0.4.6-3.9.1.x86_64 NOTE: Empathy is now working since we found "Airplane Mode" was on in "Network Settings". Evolution can still not connect to any servers. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org
